"Where is my mind?" Emergent Seas Film Club: Das Netz (2003)

An Emergent Seas research series that unravels the madness of our time. “Where is my mind?” takes place on the second and fourth Saturday of each month, and includes a film screening followed by a critical conversation. Pay-what-you-can (suggested $5-20) –no one turned away for lack of funds. Open to all curious minds (recommended ages 15+). Kids activities and popcorn provided.

About the Film

Ultimately stunning in its revelations, Lutz Dammbeck's The Net / Das Netz (121min) explores the incredibly complex backstory of Ted Kaczynski, the infamous Unabomber. This exquisitely crafted inquiry into the rationale of this mythic figure situates him within a late 20th Century web of technology — a system that he grew to oppose. A marvelously subversive approach to the history of the Internet, this insightful documentary combines speculative travelogue and investigative journalism to trace contrasting countercultural responses to the cybernetic revolution.
